NHK quoted Prime Minister Koizumi after the victory: "The result exceeds my expectation. It means that there are many people who support postal privatization. My appeal for postal reform was criticized as absurd in parliament. But the Japanese people judged it as right. I appreciate it. The people have defeated the opponents. It's evidence of their support."
