If the sentence was written 50 years ago, during the Korean War, Koreans could understand it. But, if that is about today's news? Boiled porridge with left-over foods from yesterday and even older...?
It is today's hot issue in Korea..
It is a real situation from a kindergarten in Seoul, Korea. The kindergarten was making porridge with norimaki, katsudon, rice cakes, and some other left-over foods. Such "garbage porridge" has been given to little kids for 3 months, and they got horribly sick after eating it. SBS reports that children at the kindergarten got atopy, moles, enteritis, and so on.
According to the confession of the teacher of the kindergarten, when the porridge was prepared to be given the kids as a breakfast and she smelled it, she felt like vomiting because of the horrible smell, like rotten food.
But she couldn't do anything, but seeing the kids vomiting, due to the head of the kindergarten's stubbornness. The rationale was:
"It boiled, so it is safe!"
Now the poor working mothers of the kids noticed the horrible truth, and are rushing in kindergarten, protesting to the owner. But the head is keeping to say same words, and moreover, saying: "Don't we eat kimchi which have been preserved for one or two years?"
Please watch the SBS report.
