Anti-Rokkasho demonstration in Tokyo

Photos and video from the anti-Rokkasho demonstration in Tokyo, Jan. 27, 2008 (More details in my post a few days ago, 850,000 signatures).

Video from Jan. 27 here (3.37 min) on Janjan.jp - the Japan Alternative News for Justice and New Culture.

Charm points to No Nukes, More Hearts, who added a video of the parade to YouTube!

Rokkasho and Japan's Nuclear Fuel Cycle Policy: CNIC's has English information about nuclear activities at Rokkasho Village, located in Aomori Prefecture.

How many kilowatts do they get out those hearts?

I do not favor nuclear power, but do these people offer an alternative in either the form of a practicalm non- polluting means of producing power or a plan on how we can all use less?

Silly slogan.

Good question. One of the groups at this demonstration was the Seikatsu Club, a consumer cooperative. They are guided by the follwing principles:

(1) Pursuit of safety for consumer materials
(2) Raising self-sufficiency in food
(3) Reduction of harmful substances
(4) Sustainable use of natural resources
(5) Reduction of waste and promotion of reuse
(6) Reduction of energy use
(7) Reduction of risk
(8) Information disclosure
(9) Independent control and auditing
(10) Mass participation

I came across your blog thru your comment on the Rokkkasho video created by Surfrider Japan.

I am an active volunteer for Surfrider but I also run an alternative green media called "greenz.jp".. For more info, pleas vistit http://greenz.jp

I read your blog and we'd seem to have a shared vision and value.

If you are interested, please contact me and we can discuss further.

Thanks

Hi Hiromi, nice to hear from you. I have actually linked to greenz.jp at least three times on my blog. The most recent time was April 19, 2007 in a post I did about Earth Day events in Yoyogi, Tokyo. Good job!

Thanks Martin!

Would you be interested in contributing to greenz, perhaps as a writer??

If interested, please e-mail me ; recruit[at]greenz.jp
